Q&A

Frequently Asked Questions

1. What actually happens during a therapy session?
Each session is fully personalised to your child. We use play, visual supports, and structured activities to build communication, emotional regulation, and self-control. Sessions are calm, engaging, and designed so your child feels safe, motivated, and understood.

2. How long does it take to see results?
Every child progresses differently. Some families notice small changes within weeks, while others see progress over a longer period. What matters most is consistency and parent involvement. Therapy is about steady, meaningful growth, not quick fixes.

3. What ages do you work with?
I support children from around 2 years old through adolescence. Strategies are always adapted to your child’s developmental level, not just their age.

4. Can I observe or be involved in sessions?
Yes — and this is encouraged. Parent involvement helps skills transfer into everyday life and gives you confidence in supporting your child between sessions.

5. How often should therapy sessions take place?
Most children benefit from 2–3 sessions per week, but this is always adjusted to your child’s needs, energy levels, and your family routine. There is no one-size-fits-all schedule.

6. What if my child refuses to engage or becomes upset?
That’s completely normal. When this happens, I use positive reinforcement, gentle redirection, and flexibility to help your child feel safe and regain regulation. We never force participation.

7. How do online ABA therapy sessions work?
Online sessions are live and interactive. We connect via video call, and I guide you step by step as you work directly with your child. You receive real-time feedback, support, and adjustments as the session unfolds.

8. Are online sessions really effective?
Yes — especially when parents are involved. Learning happens in your child’s natural home environment, which helps skills transfer more easily into daily life.

9. Do I need special toys or materials for online sessions?
No. We use everyday household items, favourite toys, and simple visual supports. I guide you on how to adapt what you already have.

10. How long are the sessions?
Sessions usually last 60–90 minutes, depending on your child’s attention span, goals, and needs. We always work at your child’s pace.

11. Do I need any ABA or therapy experience as a parent?
Not at all. Everything is explained in clear, simple language, and you are guided step by step. You are supported throughout — not expected to figure things out alone.

12. What if my child loses focus during a session?
That’s absolutely okay. Breaks are part of learning. We adjust in the moment and often turn those moments into valuable learning opportunities.

13. What is the “Be Your Child’s Own Therapist” Program?
It’s a step-by-step, personalised coaching program that teaches parents how to apply ABA strategies at home to support communication, behaviour, and emotional development — without ongoing therapy costs.

14. Is this program suitable for nonverbal children or more intense behaviours?
Yes. Everything is tailored to your child’s developmental level and needs, including nonverbal communication and more complex behavioural challenges.

15. Will I receive support while using the program?
Yes. You are not left on your own. I provide guidance, feedback, and encouragement while you apply strategies at home, so you feel confident and supported.
